Mother's Day officially became a holiday in 1914 and is celebrated annually as the second Sunday in May. The celebration of Mother's Day began in the United States in the early 20th century honoring one's own mother, motherhood, maternal bonds, and/or the influence of mother's in society.
With the holiday in mind, most local families celebrate Mother's Day with visiting the annual Albany Tulip Fest in Washington Park. The event will be held on Saturday May 9th and Sunday May 10th with over 10,000 tulips on display in over 150 different variations.
Be sure to contact your mom and celebrate this wonderful day with her this Sunday, May 10th.
