It’s no secret that looking for a new apartment is incredibly stressful for many people. Fortunately, knowing what questions to ask your potential Property Manager can make the apartment hunting process easier, and maybe even enjoyable!

Some of the most important things to ask include:

  1. What are the move-in fees?

Find out exactly what will be required upon move-in. Some apartments require a security deposit, first month’s rent, and last month’s rent. Many apartments also require tenants to have a renter’s insurance policy before moving in. Be sure you have factored in all of these costs when making your decision.

  2. What Are the Lease Terms?

Leases are typically for one-year. However, some apartments may offer longer or shorter leases, depending on different circumstances. Find out how long your lease will be for, as well as apartment policies on subleasing, before signing.

  3. Is the Rent Price Expected to Increase?

If you’re looking to live somewhere long-term, it is important to know if your Property Manager expects to increase rent prices in the coming years. Some of the reasons for a rent increase include growth in popularity of the neighborhood, and upgrades on the apartment.
